Supervisor Terrye Faye Washington Baker serves faithfully in ministry at Sheepfold Church of God in Christ with her husband of 45 years, and pastor, Administrative Assistant Larry C. Baker Jr. She works closely with him to coordinate the various ministries at the church.
First Lady Baker serves as the Jurisdictional Supervisor of the Department of Women in the Texas Gulf Coast Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction, where her Jurisdictional Prelate is Bishop Destry C. Bell, Sr.
Prior to becoming a Jurisdictional Supervisor, Mother Baker served in the North Houston District in the Department of Women on the Executive Board during Supervisor McClain’s tenure as District Missionary, Finance Chairperson, and Program Committee Chairperson. In the Jurisdiction, she served as Advisory Board Co-President and Program Committee Chairperson. In addition to her duties as wife, First Lady, mother, and Supervisor, Mother Baker makes time to serve the International Department of Women under the leadership of General Mother Barbara McCoo Lewis as a member of the Advisory Board, Finance Team, and the Special Projects Committee which is chaired by Supervisor Lena McClain.
Supervisor Baker retired from the Houston ISD and Aldine ISD after more than 26 years of distinctive service. She is the mother of two children—Larry Baker III and Virginia Baker, who rests with Jesus. One of her favorite scriptures is Luke1:45 "And blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord."
Supervisor Baker is called to encourage people everywhere to stand on the Word of God. She has no doubt in her mind that God always keeps His Word. She wears many hats, but the hat that fits her best is the hat labeled, “Handmaiden of the Lord.”
